I'm Still "Lost"

I have to say when I keep saying I am going to update this more I have yet to stick to it. Life gets busy, stupid TV shows entertain us...blah blah. Speaking of stupid,LOST SPOILER ALERT: What a stupid show! I got into Lost 6 years ago after the first season had ended I was reading about this show full of mystery and it seemed interesting so I rented the DVDs. Amazing was all I could think after watching the first season. Tons of mystery, great character development, and this crazy island that you never knew what you were going to see. I was so excited for the second season but my attention span for sitting and waiting week to week for each new show was small so I decided to wait until each season was done to watch its entirety.I read and watched tons of behind the scene articles and videos and these writers had supposedly mapped out the entire show when they started and knew exactly how it was going to end. Wow this really seemed exciting that they knewhow it was all going to play out with all of this mysteryand could keep it up knowing that one day they would answer all of these questions. So they decided 6 seasons would be enough for them to map this story out.So the second season comes along inside the hatch and it was fantastic...well at least for the first half of the season till "The Others," came out. "The Others," which they refer to all throughout the entire series are other people who live on the Island. Other people? You know at first I didn't let it bother me and thought it was kind of interesting but the more I think about it...the others...that is the dumbest name in the world for people you are supposed to be afraid of...ohhhh....other people. Maybe they should have called them neighbors, or guys that live down the street. More mysteries surface this season and I start to wonder if they are ever going to tell me why there is a damn polar bear on this Island. Now I might be getting my timeline wrong on the seasons but so comes the black smoke, women’s babies dying, time travel, Islands moving themselves to a different place, Ben Linus being bad, good, bad...blah..blah. Each season became more ridiculous. 50 new mysteries and 3 of them solved. So if I was going to go back and count, I am sure there would be approximately 6,439 mysteries in the entire 6 seasons, 12 of which they gave me an answer for. Now don't get me wrong, it did keep me interested even though with each season I thought the show was losing sight of whatever they had originally intended, I figured I watched the show for this long, I will stay on this sinking ship and finish the show which brings me to season 6.Jacob handpicked all of these people to be on this Island as candidates. Ok, candidates for what reason I keep asking myself. Somebody told me because The Black Smoke was going to kill him. I just realized how dumb that last sentence sounds and why I should have quit watching this show. Black Smoke? Why did he turn into black smoke? Why didn't Jacob just turn into a high powered fan and blow the black smoke away. STUPID! Why did Jacob need a replacement and what exactly does he do? Protects the Island is the so called story line. What are you protecting it from...a new ice age coming in?So the bottom line I read in Entertainment Weekly 6 years ago that they were stuck in purgatory and that’s what this Island was. The writers said no that is not what it is. I really don’t think they had any clue as to what they were going after when they started this show. I think they just kept adding more mystery to the Island hoping to keep us viewers interested and they won. They didn't lie about the purgatory even though that’s how they ended the show. It turns out only the last sideways world in Season 6 was the purgatory and that the Island was real. So all of those Polar bears are still running around the Island trying to figure out why Desmond was pushing a button for years. This just in...I am going to be writing a new concept album. It is going to start with a story about Ninja tree planters who play backgammon with John Wayne next to the Eiffel tower and then at the end it’s going to..............

A long time

Well I just finished writing a big blog and when I got done I it didn't save so here is my attempt of a rewrite. First of all I know I have been slow at updating this blog. I really do not like having to update all of these social networking sites along with a website. It is too tedious. Why don't people use websites anymore for information. I keep having people ask me when we have a show next and they say I didn't see it on your Facebook....to which I reply...did you look at our website...well no...well there you go. Look at our damn website. Way cooler than Facebook or Myspace. In other news...have music genres been completely forgotten what they mean? I have heard many comments over the years that RFG is not a rock band or that this other band they listen to is heavier. Now I have even heard people refer to Tonic when they were saying that. Are you for real? We are as heavy as Tonic first of all and second of all Tonic is not even close to being heavy. And yes Bon Jovi, Matchbox 20, Third Eye Blind are all rock bands. I just think people have really lost that concept. If a rock band takes a song like, Staying Alive for example, and turns it into a rock song does that make them a disco band? You don't need to answer...I already have it....NO!In some more positive news, Dave and I have been playing the hell out of the acoustic shows lately and it is so weird sometimes when you think no one is into the music at all because they are not reacting vocally and you think to yourself, does anyone care that we are here playing for you? Then you take a break and 5 or 6 people come up to you and say how much they enjoy what you are doing and they love the harmonies...it feels great. Thanks for listening.James

Man I suck at blogs

Well it has been a long time since I wrote on this because I have gotten a little lazy so I apologize. I promise the next blog will only take 9 months for me to update. Kidding. Anyways, lots of big changes happening. David Roo who started the band with me is back on lead guitar which had been great. He and I have continued to play acoustic shows together over the last 3 years that he has not played with the electric side of RFG and I was pretty excited to see if we could make a go of it again. So we tried a test show this summer in August and it went pretty well and we just did 3 more shows and they all went great so I think this time its for real.I got to say it has been pretty frustrating over the years because it seems like everytime this band gets it feet on the ground and start running someone quits and we have to take steps back to get things up and running again. David has always been a dedicated guy to this band even though he was sometimes a pain in my b@lls! I think we have worked beyond our kinks and are back and ready to rock.I played Resident Evil 5 and so far it sucks. I have been out of gaming, as I believe I wrote about before, for quite a few years and although the graphics are 1 million times better some of the gameplay is just plain boring. I did get Grand Theft Auto 4 and let me say that one is amazing. It is great that you can destroy just about everyone and every thing.I hate winter, don't know if anyone knows that about me but I will say it again....I hate winter. I hate the dry skin, bloody noses, and wrapping myself in 15 blankets and still being cold. I do love Christmas so I am excited for that but as soon as thats over I plan on hibernating until Spring.Anywho, I hope all is well out there and Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

Tired

It is way too early to be writing anything. My Mothers dog spent the night here last night and she is old as the hills. Has the blatter the size of a walnut and loves to whine for hours on end. She woke me up here at 5 am after a very short 4 hours of sleep and now I cannot go back to sleep. The good news is we had some pretty good shows this weekend and it only rained for like 15 mins while we were playing instead of all night which typically happens when we play outdoors.I am officially on vacation today until next Friday which I am very excited about. My family does an annual Wisonsin Dells trip that I look forward to every year more than anything. Hiking with my nephew Jace is usually one of the highlights every year. Seeing who can stay up the latest between me and my older brother...by the way...I always win. What did you expect? A day of waterparks and running into eachother on go-karts and hopefully this year we will do some mini-golf. Anywho, the longer I stare at this screen the more the lack of sleep is setting in so I am out.

Moving In

A lot to report as of recent. I was able to purchase a house which can now hold RFG's practice sessions and future recordings hopefully. It was kind of a mess trying to buy a house considering how many of the houses are owned by the banks which takes extra time because you have to wait and wait to hear answers on the progress but I have to say after all of this time it was worth it.Moved in last week and have started to settle in but I am having trouble cleaning up all of the messes I have created and house projects that I would like to tackle. It is slowly beginning to feel like home though. I recentlylived in a very small apartment where I could hear my neighbor above me lifting weights at 3 in the morning and dropping the bar-bell on the floor and so far amazingly I don't miss that at all.Have started working on writing a few new songs as well but it has been very difficult finding the time lately with all of the other things I am trying to accomplish but I will soon get there. What else....we started doing some acoustic shows at Applebee's of all placesin Blaine every other Wednesday and they are turning out to be fantastic so if you have never seen me perform with David Roo (He who put the Roo in Roo-m For Gray) you should check it out. Have a beer shout out a request of some song we have never played and watch while we fumble our way through it.Thats all I got for now. Keeping myself busy as I can and am looking forward to my families annual Wisconsin Dells trip which is my favorite time of year.

Yeah

Hopefully you have been keeping up with this awesome blog that I have created..ha. A lot has been happening with the band lately and I would like to think its because all of the hard work we have done is finally paying off. We have had great responses to our latest album which has been fantastic. I keep hearing over and over that "Lying" is the best track on the album which I won't argue with anyone but I wonder if people are getting past track 3 and listening to the rest of it because I will toot my own horn here...the rest of the album is great too. Going to look at the possibility of purchasing a home today which is pretty exciting. I just really want to turn it up at home...just like FREEDOM ROCK MAN...WELL TURN IT UP DUDE! Can't wait to be able to watch movies at a comfortable but loud listening level and not hear the person who lives above me blast his TV to drown out what I am listening too. The joy of living in an apartment. Also, just got a new Playstation 3 against my better judgement because of the gaming addiction I have tried to avoid for the last 6 plus years and let me tell you...it is awesome and I am not overplaying it too much. I have been able to cut my gaming sessions from 48 hours with no sleep down to only 5 or 6 hours. Pretty cool. Thats all I got.

Rookies

Well attempt number 2 is here to blog. Rookies was a lot of fun this weekend. It's too bad we had so much fun in the first 2 sets that we didn't leave that much energy for our last set but we still had a great time. Had some relatives come out who had never seen me play and they seemed pretty surprised. Been working pretty hard to promote this new record and have had Mitch helping us out a ton which is amazing. This guy works so hard and gets things done better than I ever could. I am so thankful to have him around. What else...I am working on puttin up some new videos for our page. Sold some CD's to some people in Europe which has really surprised me and have been getting some attention from a few online reviewers over there which has been great. Going away this weekend to spend a few days with my family in one of those water park hotels which should be a great time. It's always good to escape reality for a few days. Thats all I got for now.James

First Blog

I am sitting here right now updating everything that I can and overwhelmed by the amount of work that is in my brain for all of the things I want to get done today. Argh! On a more positive note this is my first blog ever and I am not quite sure what to type so if you have any ideas, I would love to hear them. The band is trying to line everything up right now for our CD release show and trying to get as many media outlets as possible to back us. We are trying to add 5 new songs to our practice tonight as well for our upcoming show at Rookies to keep things as fresh as possible. If I have anymore random thoughts I will be sure to let you know.James
